A little-known fact about the primary ingredient used to make craft beer, hops, is that hops and cannabis are closely related. Afghanistan has been producing only the best hashish for a very, very long time and are still mass-producing hashish to this very day. People from all over the world used to travel to Afghanistan to buy the hash, but generally, tourists are not allowed to see the cannabis fields or watch the process. We know that the best kinds of hash originate from the northern provinces between the Hindu Kush and the Russian border (Balkh, Mazar-i-Sharif) but getting close to these places is a different story entirely. In Afghanistan, Hashish is pressed by hand with the addition of a small quantity of tea or water. The Hashish is worked on until it becomes highly elastic and has a strong aromatic smell.
